Saw wooden sills (bogged in) on a Ford once. Belonged to a clown, no bull. One of their circus trucks had live .22 rounds in the European fusebox, inside the cab.Craig HartMrBonk's story sounds like the guy many years ago that borrowed the work water sandblaster for some little rust spots and when he stopped to see how good he was going (lifted the blurry wet sandy mask) he had very large holes. He was extremely pissed off. We of course laughed.
Reminds me of a veedub I saw once. the gutters were *filled* entirely with bog. you had to look twice to work out what looked so different!MarkT
It actually looked pretty cool, but it's not exactly the right thing to do!
Reminds me of a Valiant I saw once. The owner had covered the roof in Pebblecrete (sp?). When I asked him why, he said he had some left over from doing his verandah, and he wanted something to cover the rust.MrBonk
I bought a set of mags for my old EJ many years ago, but they were too wide to fit under the guards. Upon the advice of a friend, I attempted to widen the guards a little by putting a jack in the wheel arch and 'jacking' them out. Great idea, except that all the guards were made mostly of bog, which fell out (in large chunks) of the first one I tried to widen......bum. Of course, I didn't know about this when I bought the car, so I went on a bit of a hunt to see how much more bog was in the car. Let's just say I didn't find much actual metal anywhere while I was looking!Rainbow Warrior
I thought I had seen it all until behind an 70's Hiace today and thought something didn't appear quite right. This guy must have had some rust in the gutter area, he'd filled at a 45 degree angle the whole length of the gutter except over the doors above AND below the gutter. The Red KrawlerWe used strips of tin real estate sign and pop rivets to replace the bottom of dad's 76 Fairlane doors & frame.
Bodgiest paint job I've seen was a guy who roller painted an old Subaru with some white 2 pack epoxy he found at the dump, unfortunately he didn't use any 2nd part of the 2 pack, 3 months later and the whole car was still tacky, and of course he tried to scrape it all off, then painted over it with enamel house paint which still didn't go off properly and went wrinkly all over, hid the bog well though.
A mate was selling his Torana, he had some paintwork redone, and a guy coming to look at it on Sunday morning, when he decided to just poke that little "pen diameter" blister out in the back lower guard and bog it on Saturday morning, the handle of the screwdriver went through, and we kept poking, getting the grinder and cutting evertything below bumper height off, ending up making a new rear lower guard out of real estate sign tin.
You want world class bog jobs? Look at my laser....(the infamous Brutis!!!)
* Had rust in the gutters, so we cleaned it right up and a thin smear of bog to make it straight.
* The doors had _NO_ bottom on them. Nothing at all. All gone. So we built the whole section out of fly screen and bog and matched profile with the back doors and whadya know, they actually worked.
* Had rust on the bonnet. Cleaned it up and bogged the hole that went THROUGH the bonnet.
* Had rust in the engine bay. Covered it in duct tape and spray painted it. Ahh fudge it, it was only for the roadworthy.
* Had massive crumples along the back on that bit of metal under the bumper ("beaver" panel I think I've heard it refered to - or is that the front one?) due to an accident and some very amature smacking with a hammer. Bogged the entire length and sanded like little bastards to get it straight.
* Front passanger side lock was bent almost 90o to the door from an attempt to break in (in which they succeeded AFAIK, it was before I got it) so we cut the metal on one side, bent it back, cleaned it all up and then bogged to get it straight again.
* Rear passenger door had the waves of the ocean in it from a suspected ding, though it was so big it didnt look like a bumper hit... Anywho, smashed that out with a dolly or whatever the hell its called and then yet more bog to smooth it out.
And you know, at the end of it all we only used 1 tub of bog... A nice big tub mind you :)
Oh and did I mention that we painted the whole thing with spray cans? Pressure pack spray cans. Yessir, the entire thing.
